Thai Language Course Opening Ceremony Held

On September 22nd, the Opening Ceremony for Thai language course (elective), a joint programme between the College and Bangkokthonburi University (BTU), was held on the south and north campuses successively.

Present at the ceremony were Lu Xuezhi, China Affairs consultant of BTU, Lin Yuqing and Feng Youxing, both Thai teachers, Wang Rongchang, Party Secretary of the College, and Zhou Houcai, Vice President of the College. Also at the ceremony were Heads of Academic Affairs Office, Youth League Committee and six Departments, as well as counselor representatives, the teachers and students in 2013 delegation to Thailand and the students who have registered in the Thai class.

At the ceremony, Mr. Wang Rongchang reviewed the cooperation between the College and BTU and briefed the preparations for the opening of Thai language course. He also called on the students to work hard with perseverance so as to make achievements.

Mr. Lu Xuezhi, on behalf of BTU, delivered a speech, extending full support for our students’ enthusiasm and initiatives in learning Thai.
A video clip about BTU was shown at the ceremony, featuring distinctive Thai customs and culture and a general introduction to BTU. Mr. Lu Xuezhi and the two Thai teachers also answered questions from the audience.  

Approximately 1000 students register in the Thai course and are divided into 19 classes on the south and north campuses.

The College signed the agreement of cooperation with BTU in 2011, followed by several exchanging visits of students and teachers from both sides. The Thai course is an important achievement of the cooperation between the College and BTU.
