Ashley Mendes, an English teacher from Britain, has won a Teaching Excellence Award for foreign experts for 2011, as was recently announced by Shandong Provincial Education Department. Forty-two foreign experts in the province have won the award.
Mr. Ashley Mendes has been working for our college since September 2010. Thanks to his well-prepared lessons, serious working attitude and lively class atmosphere, he soon became a most popular teacher among the students.
In addition to his routine teaching, he is always ready to assist every department in various extracurricular activities, such as giving lectures on the English language and culture, working as a judge in various English competitions, organizing English corners, and co-tutoring students who are going to attend provincial or national English contests. A number of contestants he has co-tutored have won top prizes in the contests. As a result, he always comes out on top in students’ assessment of teachers.
So far, three foreign teachers in our college have won provincial Teaching Excellence Awards. The other two were Patrick Thame and Robert Steaves, both of whom won the award in 2010.
