On the morning of July 6th, the Commencement for Graduates of 2014 was held on North Campus of the College. Present at the ceremony were Diao Jiandong, President of the College, Wang Bozhong and Zhou Houcai, both Vice Presidents of the College, Chen Xiangguo, Cheng Wei and Zhao Jixing, three Assistant Presidents, and other department directors. Also attending the commencement were graduates of 2014, instructors and undergraduate representatives. The commencement was chaired by Wei Changzheng, Deputy Secretary of the CPC SFTC committee.
With the playing of the national anthem and the raising of the national flag, the commencement proceeded with the announcement of “Decision on the Graduation of Graduates of 2014” by Mr. Zhou Houcai, and “Circular on Honoring the Outstanding Graduates of 2014” and “Decision on the Appointment of 53 graduates as Alumni Liaisons” by Mr. Wang Bozhong. And then President Diao Jiandong presented the diplomas to graduates representatives of every class, and other leaders awarded certificates to outstanding graduates and alumni liaison representatives.
President Diao Jiandong delivered a warm and enthusiastic speech to the graduates. In the speech, he first expressed heartfelt congratulations to all the graduates and shared with them the great achievements made by outstanding alumni, especially those entrepreneurs; meanwhile, he also highly commended the contribution made by those alumniengaged in foreign trade and to the society. Then President Diao made a firm pledge to work hard with all the staff in the great effort to build the College into a National Prestigious College and maintain the College’s leadership in all the foreign trade vocational colleges nationwide, hence the permanent pride of alumni. In bidding farewell, President Diao expressed his hope for the graduates to keep the words of teachers in Alma Mater firm in mind; to keep on studying and work hard in the effort to serve the country, serve the people and serve the society faithfully and down to earth; to be honest and committed; and to show kindness to others and gratitude to the elders and care for the family.
Liu Xiquan, a teacher from International Transportation and Logistics Department, made a speech on behalf of all the staff. With best wishes, he expressed his hope for all the graduates to be diligent, ambitious, perseverant and grateful.
Liu Kun, a student of Finance and Insurance Class 2015, and Qu Mingpeng a student of International Trade Class 2014 delivered speeches as representatives of undergraduates and graduates respectively.
Graduates of 2014 are embarking on a new journey of life. May they keep the motto of the College and gratitude to the teachers to heart, uphold sound traditions of the College and word hard to create a brand-new world for themselves.
