On July 1st 2015, a training workshop on Cloud Computing and Big Data Management for Zimbabwe officials was kicked off at Tai’an Training Base of SFTC. The training workshop is sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by SFTC. The opening ceremony of the training workshop was witnessed by Mr. Diao Jiandong, President of SFTC, Mr. Wu Jianguo, Deputy Director of Foreign Economy Cooperation Division of Commerce of Department of Shandong Province, Mr. Meng Qingwei, Representative to Zimbabwe of Inspur Group, Mr. Zhang Qingguo, Deputy Director of China-aid Training Office of SFTC, and Mr. Liu Xiaofei, Deputy Director of Information Management Department of SFTC.
Mr. Diao first addressed at the opening ceremony and extended warm welcome to the Zimbabwe officials presented the opening ceremony. He made a brief introduction of Shandong Province and China-aid training programs of SFTC as well as the development and profile of SFTC, vowing to hold successful activities of the workshop by virtue of the superior commercial resources of Shandong Province. Mr. Wu Jianguo and Mr. Meng Qingwei briefed the workshop separately on the economic cooperation between Shandong and Zimbabwe and the progress on the construction of a high-performance supercomputer center aided by Chinese government and contracted by Inspur Group. Mr. Causemore Maringa, on behalf of Zimbabwe government, expressed thanks to Chinese government and Inspur Group for all the assistance. He stated that the workshop would further strengthen Sino-Zimbabwe relationship and boost Zimbabwe’s strive to build a smart government.
The 25 participants of the workshop are medium- and high-rank officials from Zimbabwe President’s Office, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Immigration Bureau. The workshop will last for 21 days and the lecturers are from Qingdo University, Inspur Group and SFTC. The workshop will be focused mainly on infrastructure construction, management and application based on cloud computing and big data management technologies. Study visits to some cities and Inspur Group, the core equipment manufacturer in China, are also scheduled for the workshop.
