The 2013National Multi-media Courseware Competition for College Korean Textbooks drew to a perfect end recently. The 1st award was given to the Korean Intensive Reading courseware designed by teachers from Business English Department of Shandong Foreign Trade Vocational College (SFTC).
Teachers and IT professionals from colleges and universities nationwide submitted their works for the competition hosted by the Advisory Committee for the Teaching of Non-Lingua Franca Languages, and organized by Shandong University and Foreign Language Teaching & Research Press (FLTRP). A judging panel made up of specialists in Korean teaching, teachers, technical experts and Korean majors announced the winners after deliberate assessment. The winning works will be accordingly attached to books to be published by FLTRP.
Teachers from Korean Section of Business English Department of our college began preparation from June, 2013 for the competition. The courseware was produced through joint efforts and submitted before August 31, the competition deadline. “Images and instructions being reasonably proportioned, the courseware is well made,” stated the judging panel, “and it will surely arouse students’ interest in Korean learning.” Scoring 91, this work was awarded the 1st prize.
In recent years, a reform is taking place in our college. The Business English Department constantly encourages its teaching staff to improve skills in making multi-media courseware, integrating modern technology with teaching practices. Winning the competition not only highlights teachers’ competence in courseware making, but brings honor to SFTVC as well.
