On 21st April 2013, the inaugural meeting of the Instructing Committee of the National Vocational Education of Economic Relations and Trade (incovefert) was held in Changsha, Hunan Province. Shandong Foreign Trade Vocational College is elected to the Vice Presidency of incovefert and Presidency of the Instructing Committee for the Teaching of Business Foreign Languages, one of incovefert’s subcommittees. Wang Rongchang, head of the College, is appointed Vice President of INCOVEFERT and President of the foreign languages subcommittee, while Chen Xiangguo, head of the Business Foreign Languages Department, is picked for the Secretary General of the subcommittee.
First established in 1999, incovefert, headed by the Department of Human Resources of the Ministry of Commerce, is one of the many national vocational education guiding bodies, with a mandate from the Ministry of Education to conduct studies in reform and development of foreign trade vocational education, and provide consultancy and guidance to its member institutes. In 2012, MOE launched a reshuffle of the national vocational education guiding bodies and formed 53 new instructing committees, and INCOVEFERT remained in the team. It is now comprised of six subcommittees with respective focus on disciplines of international trade, international business, business foreign languages, service outsourcing, secondary vocational education in foreign trade, and corporate involvement in vocational education.
Since the creation of incovefert the College has been put in charge of the business foreign languages branch. Its continued hold of the subcommittee after the MOE reshuffle reflects the wide recognition it has gained in its achievements in foreign languages teaching.
