On April 15th, Mr. Zhang Zechuan, an alumnus who was graduated in 1988 and later successfully pursued a career as a painter and calligrapher in the US, visited our college. College leaders Wei Changzheng and Diao Jiandong, together with representatives of the faculty and students, gave him a warm welcome at the Meeting Room of the library.
Mr. Zhang Zechuan, now Vice President of Hollywood Jie Anji Film Co. Ltd. and Chairman of Society of American and Chinese Contemporary Art, graduated from the International Trade Department of our college in 1988 and migrated to the USA in 1994. Zhang’s artistic style is a unique fusion of Chinese and Western culture. His published works include “The Three-Character Primer of Film” and “The Sun of the Grand Canyon”. In February 2013, the US Postal Service issued five stamps featuring his works. This is the first time that Chinese art works won such an honor.
At the meeting, Mr. Zhang expressed his gratitude to the college and his former teachers. He said it was the knowledge and skills he acquired here that laid a solid foundation for his English and opened up a new world for him. Then he encouraged students to make full use of school life to improve their abilities, and gave several suggestions in regard to job-hunting, balancing work and hobby, time management and so on. After the meeting, Mr. Zhang wrote an inscription impromptu for the college and visited the College Museum and other facilities.
