At 6 p.m, April 16, the curtain of the opening ceremony of the 5th Annual Foreign Languages Cultural Festival or the “Golden Talents” Contest Finals was lifted. Heads of Departments attended the ceremony. Mr. Wei Changzheng, Deputy Secretary of College, made opening remarks and congratulated on the Cultural Festival and foreign language teaching in our college. He extended his hopes for a frugal campus in line with this year’s theme activity—“Waste Not, Want Not” and that more students would take the initiative and get more involved in various foreign language contests. He encouraged students to experience culture and improve cross-cultural communication capabilities and the English Club to turn the festival into a gala organized by and for students.
During the Finals of “Golden Talents”, contestants took to the stage and showcased their English skills. As the most important part of the Festival, “Golden Talents” attracted many English enthusiasts and through fierce competition, 12 teams from International Trade Department, Business Foreign Languages Department, Business Management Department, and Information Management Department made it to the Finals and three teams clinched first prizes, five teams second prizes and four teams third prizes. In the fully packed auditorium, the intense competition brought cheers and applause from a lively audience.
Centered on the overarching theme of “Learn it, Live it, Love it”, the Festival is a stage for students to showcase their talents and English skills. As a key part of college cultural activities, the year’s Festival is fully engaging and plays an important role in enhancing students’ practical English ability and overall development as well as building campus culture.
