On January 8, a chorus contest organized by the Trade Union of SFTC was held to celebrate the New Year in the Lecture Hall. 12 faculty teams joined in the event.
On behalf of SFTC Party committee and the College administration, Mr. Yang Mingang, Secretary of the CPC SFTC Committee, expressed his sincere greetings and heartfelt gratitude to all the organizers and contesting teams for their meticulous preparations and wonderful performance. He pointed out that chorus was not only an art of singing, but also a reflection of the attitude of life and work. The contest reflected the faculty’s affection towards SFTC and their awareness of team work. The perseverance, coordination, unity and steady working style were shown in the contesting process. He also expressed his wishes that the Trade Union shall organize more popular and widely-participated activities to echo the faculty’s voices and to enhance college cohesion.
A wide variety of songs found its way in the contest. There are classical songs such as My Motherland, Ode to Motherland, Walking in the Broad Way,etc. and popular songs such as Missing You, A Better Tomorrow,Young People’s Gatherings as well as English song You Raise Me Up. Some of the faculty’s children also participated in the chorus, and some performance was accompanied by lively dancing, which brought thunderous applause in the hall.
The chorus contest has reflected the faculty’s unity and aspiring mental outlook. All the participating teams made careful preparations for costumes, singing stance, dubbing and conducting. The performing teams also conducted rehearsals many times before the contest. The administrative leaders also conducted or sang in the contest. All chorus participants were exhilarated and coordinated. Their wonderful performance brought one climax and another, and deafening applause lasted to the end of the event.
The administrative team No. 1(members are from the General Office, the Organization Department, the Information Center, the Publicity Office, the Disciplining and Supervision Office, the Department of Personnel, the Office of Further Education and the Youth League Committee),the chorus team of the International Transportation and Logistics Department, the administrative team No. 3(members are from the Student Affairs Office, the Academic and Teaching Affairs Office, the Career Guidance Center and the Office of International Programs ) won the First Prize. The chorus teams of the Information Management Department, the Library and the Center of Practical Training, and the Business Foreign Languages Department won the Second Prize. The administrative team No. 2 (members are from the Office of Finance and Audit, the Office of Logistics and Assets Management and Supervision Office),and the chorus teams of the International Trade Department, the Accounting and Finance Department, the College English Department and the Common Course Department won the Third Prize. All winning teams were awarded.
