The Spoken English Contest of the 2016 Shandong Province Vocational Students Skills Competition was held at SFTC from Nov.18 to Nov. 20, who chairs Shandong Vocational Program Construction Committee of Foreign Languages. The Contest was sponsored by Shandong Provincial Education Department, Shandong Economic and Information Technology Committee, the Department of Finance of Shandong Province, the Human Resources and Social Security Department of Shandong Province, and Shandong Provincial Department of Agriculture.
The contest included the English Major group and the Non-English Major group. 43 English major contestants and 109 non-English major contestants from 56 vocational colleges in Shandong Province attended the contest. The contestants of SFTC performed well with Lu xi and Lv Chao ranked first in the English Major group and the Non-English Major group, Pu Xiaoyue won the second place in the Non-English Major group and Chen Xingjun prevailed into the final of the English Major group.
The contest showcases the English communication skills of Shandong vocational students and teaching level of vocational schools. It aims to inspire students to learn English better, to promote English teaching reforms, and to ensure better education quality so as to provide graduates with better cross-culture communication skills, international vision and good command of international business practices for the social and economic development of Shandong Province. The contest also provides a platform for teachers, language experts, and college administrators to share their experiences and step up vocational English teaching reforms.
