SFTC staff served as the Chinese President of the Confucius Institute in Edmonton (CIE), Canada

Associate Professor Wang Jinjun, Dean of the College English Department of SFTC arrived in Edmonton, Canada on Dec. 11, 2017 and started his job as the Chinese President of the Confucius Institute of this city.

 

Earlier this year, Associate Professor Wang successfully passed the selection exams for this position at CIE and attended the orientation organized by the Confucius Institute Headquarters. With the approval from the Department of Commerce of Shandong Province and the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban), Mr. Wang would serve with CIE for two years.

 

Confucius Institutes (CIs) are important centers for the promotion of Chinese language and culture around the world. The duties of CI Chinese President include communication and cooperation with its foreign counterparts, CI annual working plan, composing CI working summaries, making annual CI budget and financial  controls, CI HR management and training, documents filing, teaching schedule designing, making student recruitment brochures, organizing teaching assessments, conducting researches on local language policies, marketing of CI programs, holding promoting activities of Chinese language and culture, communicating with local governments, schools, enterprises, communities, and the press, attending CIE administrative meetings, or even calling for temperate administrative meetings when necessary.
